Intimacy is an interpersonal state of extreme emotional closeness that allows personal space to be entered without causing discomfort to that person. Intimacy indicates closeness, familiarity, and usually an affectionate or loving personal relationships that requires having a detailed knowledge or deep understanding of each other.

Intimacy is also an act or expression serving as a token of familiarity, affection, or the like. Such as sexual intercourse.

To strengthen your relationships, you should work on five types of intimacy: 

• Physical intimacy
• Emotional intimacy
• Intellectual intimacy
• Experiential intimacy
• Spiritual intimacy
